MAINBRACE Builders partner with RIMCO for the new Woolworths, Mission Beach, NQ.

Work is well under way with the Woolworths Mission Beach project, one and a half hours north of Cairns. The 5000sqm floor area includes the large Woolworths as well as 9 specialty stores for the developing area.

Working side by side, RIMCO's affiliation with Mainbrace Builders has developed into a successful relationship as evidenced by previous Bunnings Projects in Nowra and Forster, NSW. Both parties have no hesitation customising the intricate features of this massive project in these developing and remote areas.  The RIMCO team is working in with Mainbrace to ensure is completed accurately and on time and are looking forward to see it's contribution to the growing community.

McNab's INSIGHT Project fits the span of 5 new Boeing 787 Dreamliners back to back... RIMCO's equipped for the challenge!

National tentants are eyeing up the huge warehouse complex at Yatala, fueled by Brisbane based developers Insight Group. The 84ha site will house the twin-building complex offering more than 40,000sqm of floor space to a hungry warehouse market.

Leasing agent Simon Beirne commented  "The design of the new facility with it's greater cubic capacity, will provide tenants with a more cost effective rent and cheaper cost per pallet warehoused." Not to mention a substantial saving for the developers. Thanks to RIMCO's tapered beam technology, these 300m long warehouses, with a 68m clear span interior also offers larger storage options.

The $100 million project is due for completion early 2008 and although Boeing are unlikely to be one of the tenants the scale of this project is huge and the RIMCO team is equipped and eager to work with McNab as the builders to keep the project right on target. www.mcnab.net.au

The Pensar project below recently SHORT-LISTED ENTRANT for the QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIAN STEEL INDUSTRY AWARDS and received a special mention at the ASI Awards night on 17th August. WELL DONE TO ALL THE RIMCO TEAM!!

Pensar chose RIMCO as they were attracted to the significant cost savings RIMCO could offer, due to their exclusive tapered beam system and ability to cater to the client’s specific building requirements.
These features included:

  • 22 meter wide by 12.7 meter high clear span opening.
  • Curved roof.
  • One end completely open.
  • High wind pressure design allowances.

The unique design challenge of a curved roof would have been difficult using conventional steel members of 800WB168, due to restraints in rolling this sized piece.  The RIMCO design however,  allowed for usage of straight segmented tapered beams with varying length purlin cleats to form the required arc in its roof.
This tapered beam structural design proved to be 20% lighter, saving approximately 9.2 tonnes of steel than using other conventional designs.
The complete design process, using RIMCO’s exclusive software took less than a day.  As standard for all designs produced by RIMCO, these were then certified by an Independent Consulting Engineers to ensure quality, strength and integrity of design.

The location of the building also required the building to be fully galvanised in order to combat the harsh, highly corrosive riverside environment and maintain quality throughout the years to come.
When approval to commence the fabrication for this project occurred in February 2007, RIMCO was able to fast track the erection schedule to see the building completed in only 8 weeks.
